Launch of Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- September 11,2009 - The "Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia"initiative was launched today and attended and supported by Malaysians from all walks of life.


The purpose of "Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia" is to invite All Malaysians to intentionally become a positive force for change by uniting in a common fast for one day, and committing to at least one act of kindness to another person.

The core group has invited all who are interested to start the day together on September 16 for a pre-fast meal to celebrate Malaysia Day at 5am, Lotus Restaurant PJ (PJ State Cinema) . Other groups of at least three people are encouraged to do so anywhere in the country as part of their participation in this initiative.

Present at the launch were people representing a wide range of Malaysians. Well known personalities supporting the cause include blogger/columnist/activist Marina Mahathir, multi-linguist and TV personality Mahadzir Lokman, Anas Zubedy of the famous Zubedy ads, Miss Malaysia 2007 Deborah Henry, Former Bar Council President Ambiga Sreenavasan, Council of Churches of Malaysia General Secretary Rev. Dr. Hermen Shastri, Buddhist Chief High Priest of Malaysia Most Ven. K. Sri Dhammaratana, Ivy Josiah from Women's Aid Organization, Maria Chin Abdullah from Empower, Poh Yoke Lin from All Women's Action Society, Zainah Anwar from Sisters in Islam, Artists Reshmonu, Saran, Altimet, DJ Roshan from Mix FM, Rafidah Abdullah from 3R-Respect, Relax, Respond and Malaysia's Celebrity Chef Redzuawan Ismail a.k.a Chef Wan.
